Keith Webster - Ravn Clay Pottery
Ravn Clay opened its doors in 2021, born from Keith’s long-standing passion for ceramics. With a background in education and archaeology, his path into pottery has been unconventional but shaped by a desire to create a welcoming, hands-on studio where people can explore clay through classes, workshops, and practical experiences.
Pottery is a form of creative expression that encourages mindfulness and focus, inviting people to reconnect with their messy child—simply playing with clay, a material full of potential to shape something beautiful and lasting.
The studio works primarily with stoneware clay, producing a range of functional pottery for everyday use. For years, Keith searched pottery festivals for the perfect mug—one that could turn an ordinary cup of tea into something special. Now, as a full-time potter, he’s exploring the possibilities of clay, creating mugs designed to bring joy while also developing a growing collection of unique statement pieces. Visitors to the studio can browse his work in the on-site gallery, where the full range of pots is available.
Ravn Clay is fortunate to collaborate with both local and national businesses, including Northumberland Coffee, Chain Bridge Honey Farm, Bamburgh Castle, and the Queen’s Tennis Club in London. In 2021, the studio won a design competition to create products for Ad Gefrin Whiskey Distillery in Wooler—a partnership that continues to evolve
You don’t have to visit Ford to enjoy a pottery workshop—the studio is mobile, offering classes, talks, and hands-on sessions at venues across the North and Scottish Borders. Past projects include working with Community Action Northumberland to support warm hubs, as well as running workshops for schools, youth groups, care homes, festivals, and one-off events.
Ravn Clay hopes to establish a charitable initiative, making pottery and craft accessible to everyone—regardless of personal, social, or financial circumstances.
