Scottish Seascapes brings you sea studies in a range of media, capturing the ever changing elements of our coast and islands.

I don’t know anyone for whom the sea is not a tonic.  Scottish Seascapes was born out of this dedication and connection to my heritage and environment.  Travelling across Scotland I spend time in the wild places, where waves envelop cliffs and salt beaten dry stane dykes shelter hardy flocks.  I paint en plein air, allowing the weather to play its part in shaping my sketchbook studies.  These are later developed back in the studio, usually in oils or mixed media.

Travelling is important to me, painting somewhere that I have had a genuine experience of only serves to inform my art work.  I love playing with colour mixing and expression, capturing how a place feels, not only how it looks.
