Linda Scott-Robinson
From coast to countryside, award-winning Northumberland landscape artist Linda uses a variety of mediums to capture the vibrancy of light, colour and movement in the natural world.
Landscape is my first love. I have always been fascinated by the way it is constantly changing, be it with the seasons, the weather or the time of day. My studio-based work is inspired by outdoor sketches, photographs and the momentary glimpses of colour, light and shadow that grab my attention as I go about in the world.
I try not to control my work too much, preferring instead to let the work to develop organically with spontaneous marks and loose brush strokes that allow the colour to suffuse into my landscapes.
While I work primarily in acrylic or watercolour, and sometimes in oils, lately I have been enjoying exploring new techniques, incorporating mixed media into my work to add some variety, and if I’m in need of a change, I work on the occasional still life.
The majority of the collection I will showing in Ancrum are new works based in the landscape of North Northumberland and the Scottish Borders.
