Margaret Findlay

Margaret will be located in Venue 14 - Alewood

Margaret has a particular interest in old farm buildings, especially as they start to decay, allowing light in and exposing the wonderful roof structures and artefacts.

Over the past few years I have concentrated painting derelict, farm buildings. I have an interest in the history of them and the lives once lived there down through the decades and sometimes centuries.

As they degrade, the shapes they form and the way the light pierces through broken roofs to reveal the timbers and roof space creating beautiful images with pockets of deep shadow and bright light below.

I paint mainly in acrylic and in a semi-abstract form contrasting sharply with accurate representations of the roof timbers and roof space. I like to use colours that will enable the viewer to see these buildings differently and enjoy the beauty that can be found within these structures.
I have exhibited and sold my paintings in a number of exhibitions and galleries in Edinburgh, the Scottish Borders and further afield.
